My name is Timothy Jones. I am the owner of Ray of Light Photography and a lifetime resident of Minnesota, although I did live in Kansas long enough to graduate from college ("GO Kansas University Jay Hawks!"), meet my wife and have the first of two daughters, before returning home to Minnesota.
My passion as a photographer is people, specifically: wedding, senior portraits, environmental, and event photography.
I got my first exposure to photography at the age of 11, when I took images with my father's Polaroid Instant Camera. Watching the immediate development of an image was exciting and intriguing to me. From that point, I had the "shutter bug."
In 1998, I started my part-time photography business while working many years and hours in the corporate world, not really having time to shoot or build my business.
After being laid-off in December of 2008, I decided that I would pursue my passion full time. I registered for classes January 2009 at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC). On May 14, 2012, I completed all course work and earned my Associate of Arts degree in Photography and Digital Imaging.
The knowlegde that I have gained by returning to school to learn the more technical aspects of my craft, has enhanced my shooting technique and the way that I photograph people, whether in the studio or on location.
If you enjoy what you see and I can be of service to you, please contact me.
